RANGE ROVER VELAR VS. RANGE ROVER EVOQUE

It's easy to decide that a Range Rover is the luxury SUV brand you are looking for, with outstanding on and off-road performance and stunning design inside and out. What may not be as easy is deciding which Range Rover you want to drive home. To help our customers, we have compared two of our most popular luxury SUVs, the Range Rover Velar and the Range Rover Evoque.

Exterior Design & Style

Right from the time you lay eyes on the Range Rover Velar and Range Rover Evoque you will notice they have two very different styles. The Velar has raised the bar of ultimate luxury with a sleek and modern design that flows effortlessly throughout the whole body from ultra slim LED headlights. While the Range Rover Evoque has a most sporty and bold exterior with defined curves and muscular wheel wells. The Range Rover Evoque is also available in a convertible for top-down fun where every the journey takes you. Another difference between the two Range Rover is that the Velar is larger than the Evoque by 17 inches long and two inches wider.

Powertrain & Performance

The next difference between the Range Rover Velar and the Range Rover Evoque is powertrain. While both vehicles deliver an exciting driving experience there is some technical differences. For example, the Range Rover Velar has a higher towing ability, 5,500 lbs., than the Evoque which can tow 3,968. Or that the Range Rover Velar can wade through deeper water, 25.5 inches to the Evoque's 19.6 inches. But perhaps the biggest difference in performance is the engine options. The Range Rover Evoque is powered by either a 237 horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder or a high-performance 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 286 horsepower. The Range Rover Velar has three powertrain options. Choose between two gas-powered engines. A 247 horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine or a 3.0-liter V6 that produces 380 horsepower. Or choose the 3.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with 180 horsepower.

Interior Design & Space

Like their respective exterior designs the inside of the Range Rover Velar and Range Rover Evoque are very different. Both Range Rover models utilize premium materials and finishes in an array of colors and can comfortably seat five. With the exception of the Range Rover Evoque convertible which can seat four. The Velars features a refined interior design with dual sliding front arm resets, ambient lighting, and two 10 inch touchscreens. While the Range Rover Evoque stays true to is sporty style with twin-needle stitched leather, an eight-inch touchscreen media system, and an available panoramic roof. The main difference between the interior space and seating for the two Range Rover models is cargo space. The Range Rover Evoque has a maximum space of 51 cubic feet while the Velar has 70.1 cubic feet.

Features

Since the Velar and Evoque come from the same family they share many of the same features and both vehicles come standard with rearview camera, Rear Parking Aid, Hill Descent Control, Start/Stop technology, and Cruise Control with Speed Limiter. Optional features on both vehicles include Head-Up Display, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor with Reverse Traffic Detection, and Traffic Sign Recognition.
