Does someone at Land Rover have too much time on their hands? You have to wonder.
Land Rover's engineers have created a compact Christmas cabin for two. Dubbed the Christmas Cain, it’s meant to house Santa and the missus when they need a festive getaway. And as you’d expect, it fits perfectly inside a Land Rover Discovery Sport, the brand’s new compact SUV.
Designed for two adults to sleep in North Pole temperatures as low as -20°C, it fits in the rear of Land Rover Discovery Sport. although every bit of cabin space is used to hold nuts, bolts and carrots for the reindeer. To design the cabin, engineers created a virtual model, working with specialist Danish architects LUMO. Its design is meant to be as environmentally friendly as possible, so it's built using sustainable materials.

Like the Discovery Sport, the cabin has a tailgate seat on the deck while its door opening is inspired by the vehicle’s full-length panoramic roof that provides epic landscape views. There’s a solar charger on the roof, while lights and a kettle can be connected to the Discovery Sport’s 12-volt power socket. The cabin rests on wooden struts that match the Discovery Sport’s ride height.
"We could have built this in one of our bigger models, but we wanted to prove just how versatile the baby of the Discovery family truly is,” said Helen Ali, vehicle package team leader for the Discovery Sport.
The cabin will be displayed at various Land Rover Experience centers.
