Celebrate 70 Years of Land Rover with Land Rover North America!

World Land Rover Day Marks 70 Years!

On April 30, 2018, the staff at the Mahwah, New Jersey headquarters of Land Rover North America celebrated 70 years! That wasn’t the only thing to celebrate though. The team is also celebrating the fact that Land Rover continues to be one of the top names in off-road performance.

The New Land Rover Discovery was recently honored by Four Wheeler magazine as the “Four Wheeler of the Year” for 2018. This is the sixth Land Rover vehicle to win this award. The first vehicle to win the award was the Range Rover in 1989. The Defender 90 then went on to win it in 1994, the Discovery 1 in 1995, the Range Rover Sport in 2014 and the Range Rover Sport SVR in 2016. This should be a testament to Land Rover Range Rover commitment to quality off-road vehicles.

The event featured a line up of historic vehicle that has paved the way for Land Rover. There was the first prototype Land Rover vehicle, the original two-door Range Rover and even the seven-seater Discovery. There were also expedition-proven models from across the decades featured.

The team has also globally marked its 70th anniversary at Jaguar Land Rover Classic Facility in the UK with a special event. They showed a broadcast that educated viewers on the journey of Land Rover. It explained how it began as a simple utility vehicle at the end of World War Two but quickly grew to become one of the most popular 4x4 brands. More than seven million of these vehicles have been sold worldwide!

The Jaguar Land Rover CEO, Professor Doctor Ralf Speth made a statement. He said that Land Rover is more than just a vehicle. It is something that connects people and families “through a passion for adventure and for making more of our world.”
